I always love songs that make the singer stretch. God rest ye merry gentlemen is thus still one of my favorites. Screw the words; though like much, but FAR from all things religious, the intent is alright; It’s dark, but there’s reason to be hopeful.

Oh, and the Kinks’ Father Christmas is a HORRIBLE result of a dysfunctional society, but a hell of a holiday hoot for any self-(dis)respectin’ rock-n-roll rebel. It even includes a serious jerk o’ the tear bridge! No puke at all.

kStyle – It’s the original version, released in 1958. You are in good company, though. David Bowie, who actually had a hit with the song at the height of his glam-rock career in 1977 (singing it with Bing Crosby!) hated it, too. Imagine hating it as much as you do, and realizing that you had a major role in prolonging it’s life. Talk about puking!

Blue Girl – I have to save some for next year. Thanks for the link — Chuck is the Father of Rock’n'Roll, and I bow down to him. But that led me to a bitchen video of Dave Edmunds doing “Run, Rudolph, Run” on New Year’s Eve, 1986-87, and rockin’ hard.

Vikki – Way up in the sky, little lamb!

I should have said that this is music (vocal styles, instrumental arrangements, emotional manipulation quotient, etc.) that, for the rest of the year, I wouldn’t want anything to do with. But for a month at Christmas, I take an extended walk on the cheezy side, and wallow in the mounds of Gouda. I also own my own DVD of “It’s A Wonderful Life,” and I watch it every year, lately all by myself, because nobody else can stand it. Don’t think I’ve heard that Nancy Wilson track, but what a voice! I’ll have to try to find it this year.

Narya – That’s OK, dear. It doesn’t make you a bad person.
