I guess I should mention that this blog turned 20 years old last month.
It’s true that I haven’t been writing much for the past few years, but then you haven’t been reading much for a lot longer than that. Anyway, there’s a lot of good writing and clever back-and-forth in the archives (look over on the right sidebar, where it says The Complete revision99 Archive). */
I miss the old days when revision99 was new. I didn’t have a lot of readers. To me they were more like friends, and we exchanged ideas, thoughts , smart remarks, and — I regret this, insults. But other platforms were easier to use, and eventually everyone migrated to MySpace, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter. The only bloggers around these days are the professionals, who get paid by news organizations and think tanks, and auteurs, who think their writing is so good they have moved to Substack and want you to subscribe to their blogging.
I have become a passive user of blogs. I read other peoples’ blogs (the professional ones), and I don’t maintain this one. Maybe I’ll get back to it during the next 20 years. But thanks for stopping by.
